Here's a reminder to step back from your busy life, work, and materialism so that you can truly appreciate the simple things that this beautiful world has to offer us, something that we all take for granted sometimes. Living in a big city, it's so easy to get lost in the day-to-day routine. I constantly need reminding to center and balance myself, to appreciate the world around me not as my own, but as a beauty in it's own entity. I take a moment to remind myself by (trying to) keep a yoga routine and returning to a deep, lung-filled breath as much as I can throughout the day (you'd never realize how many times I find myself holding my breath!). But my big goal this summer is to reconnect with nature. I'm lucky enough to come from a place where nature surrounds me - luscious mountains, warm ocean, and tropical plants and flowers all over, so it was hard to adjust to moving to New York City where cement is dominant and even a quiet spot is hard to come by. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to find time this summer to get out of the city and be close to nature! . . .
