Week / end: Books and Brooklyn

Happy Friday! I'm excited for the weekend, how about you?!

I'm a big reader and lover of books and ever since I purchased my Kindle reader at the beginning of the year, reading has never been so convenient! It makes it so much easier to read on my subway commute into the city, and makes those minutes of waiting for the train pass by so much more quickly. But every now and then, if I come across a something that I absolutely love, I'll purchase the actual hard book. I mean, in my future dream home, I hope to have a library room filled with books so high you'll need a ladder to get to some of them, so I have to start collecting now, right? You might already be familiar with uniquely New York's Strand bookstore. It's definitely the bookstore that I most visit here because A) it has a great selection of books, and B) it's fairly convenient to get to for me (which is always a big deciding factor for me here in the city!). It's located right next to the movie theaters so every time we're waiting for a movie to start, we'll pop on over to Strand to browse the books (we did a little visit this past weekend as we were waiting for Despicable Me 2 - such a cute movie!). I recently watched the movie, Cloud Atlas, and am now reading the book!

Another favorite thing to do on the weekends for me here in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is to go out near the waterfront. If you don't mind a crowd of people on your day off, you'll love it! The Smorgasburg is a popular venue right next to the water and you'll find tons of delicious food stations and flea market vendors! I always enjoy being off to the side where you can find a quiet spot to sit and take in the view of Manhattan from across the East River. Being able to see New York city from afar always makes me realize how small of a person I am in this big, big world. It never fails to take my breath away.

Enjoy the weekend and I'll see you back here on Monday! . . .
