I've been out of a computer that contains all that Adobe good stuff for the past couple of days (#bloggerproblems) so I'm excited to have my pal, Kevin subbing in for me today! His blog, Thou Swell is full of beautiful home interiors and trends, including the one he's sharing today! . . .
Hello Coco & Mingo readers! I'm Kevin from Thou Swell, and I'm so excited to share with you one of my favorite recent home decor trends - tiles.
Tiles are taking over walls and floors as their intricate graphic patterns provide unique texture to rooms. Because of their physical solidarity and mosaic-like effect, tiles trump wallpaper (and definitely linoleum) for adding a fine design edge to any room of your house.
These bathrooms all share a common element - beautiful tiling. The blue tiling on the walls and counter in the second photo looks fantastic with that gold mirror, and the detail at the edge of the counter and in the second tile design on the top half of the wall make the space feel very custom-made. It's glamorous, but not too fussy!
A bit different than the previous two bathrooms, the third one has a much more modern aesthetic going on, and the optical illusion in the tiles is really cool! The rest of the bathroom is very simple, so the floor definitely takes center stage as the focal point for the room.
In the living space above, they add a busy splash of contrast to the dividing wall, and also add to the worldly vibe of the room. Even though there are other busy patterns on the chaise and trunk, the tiles don't clash because of the contrasting simplicity in their design. I'm also loving those pendant light fixtures!
