I have a love affair with ginger. I hated it as a kid, but now as an adult, I can't get enough of it. The other day, the bf and I went out to get ice cream at our favorite ice cream joint in Greenpoint and I ordered something new: Ginger. I read the description: pure ginger juice, ginger pulp, and pieces of candied ginger. Sign. me. up. He replied: "Funny, you got it without sampling it" My response: "Well, if it's got all that ginger in it, I just knew it was going to be good!" And it was.
Point being: If it's got ginger in it, I know I'll love it. The more, the better.
Unfortunately, this isn't a post about ginger ice cream (sorry for the tease). But don't worry, it's just as good:

I had this ginger-rosemary drink at a bar one day and fell in love because for the first time, the bartender actually used real ginger juice instead of ginger ale or ginger beer. It was amazing. I immediately went home and tried to replicate it. So here's my take for what I call the:
Ginger Rosemary Zinger Makes 1 glass (~16 oz.)
// 1-2 tsp. Ginger juice (you can try to make it the real way or take the easy way out like me and use The Ginger People's Organic Ginger Juice) // Juice of a wedge of lime // Sugar or sweetener to taste (I like to use Raw Coconut Nectar or Honey) // Club soda // Sprigs of rosemary and leaves // Bits of candied ginger // 2 oz. gin (optional)
Mix the ginger juice, lime juice, sugar or sweetener, and club soda together. Add gin if making into a cocktail (equally great with or without). Throw in some rosemary leaves. Stir. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary stem and bits of candied ginger (FYI - if you are planning on adding bits of candied ginger into the drink, it will become sweeter due to the sugar around the candied ginger). Enjoy!
